We recently celebrated the official launch of the newly refurbished Brockwell Lido, marking an exciting new chapter for this much-loved leisure centre. The event brought together local representatives, community partners and the Active Lambeth team to celebrate the improvements delivered across the site and the start of an exciting new era for Brockwell Lido.
Bringing Brockwell Lido back under Lambeth’s management and delivering the refurbishment programme has been a significant achievement. We’d like to thank the Brockwell Lido team and the wider Active Lambeth team for their hard work, dedication and commitment throughout the transition. Their efforts played a vital role in reaching this important milestone and helping to shape the future of the centre.
Brockwell Lido has been at the heart of the community for generations, and we’re committed to ensuring it continues to serve residents for years to come. That’s why we’re investing in improvements across the site, including the recently refurbished gym with new equipment and upgraded facilities.
As part of a wider improvement programme, we’re creating a safer, more welcoming and future-ready facility while preserving what makes Brockwell Lido such a special place for our community.
Improvements Already Underway
We’re already making significant investments to improve Brockwell Lido and enhance the experience for everyone who uses the centre.
One of the biggest projects completed so far is the full refurbishment of the gym, including brand-new state-of-the-art fitness equipment, repairs to the gym floor structure, installation of the new rubber flooring throughout, and electrical upgrades to support the new facilities.
These improvements have transformed the gym into a modern, welcoming space designed to support our community’s health and wellbeing for years to come.
As part of our improvement programme, we are also delivering a range of essential safety, compliance and operational enhancements across the site. These immediate works include:
- Electrical safety works – including emergency lighting upgrades and electrical wiring improvements completed during overnight works.
- Fire safety upgrades – improvements to fire alarms, fire doors and safety signage.
- Gas safety works – boiler refurbishments and safety inspections.
- New pool vacuum, day beds and onsite automated external defibrillators.
- Pool and Spa Plant servicing.
- Pool Plant upgrades – New chemical dosing systems including pumps, PAC Safety Relocation works and replacement chemical transfer pump.
- Security enhancements, including a new CCTV system, upgraded access control systems, and a new building alarm.
- Replacement of faulty customer facilities and consumables, including hand dryers, hair dryers, showers, toilet cisterns and taps.
- Servicing and repair of air conditioning units.
- Water management improvements.
While many of these upgrades take place behind the scenes, they play a vital role in ensuring Brockwell Lido remains a safe and well-maintained facility for everyone who uses it.
Looking Ahead
Our investment in Brockwell Lido will continue with further improvements planned across the centre.
Upcoming projects include redecorating key areas, refurbishment of the steam room plant room, and works to bring the hydrotherapy pool back into use. We’ll also be carrying out improvements to the wet-side changing rooms and accessible facilities, alongside essential upgrades to pool plant equipment to support the smooth and reliable operation of our swimming facilities.
Our Commitment
These projects form part of our commitment to improving Brockwell Lido for current and future generations. While some of these works may take time to complete, they are essential investments in the safety, sustainability and long-term future of the facility.
