Clapham Leisure Centre has officially reopened its gym following a £180,000 refurbishment, introducing state-of-the-art fitness equipment from Pulse Fitness. Designed to improve the workout experience, the modernised facility features upgraded cardio machines, new strength-training equipment, and a layout tailored to meet diverse fitness needs.
The launch event included a visit from Councillor Donatus Anyanwu, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, who joined the celebrations. Clapham Leisure Centre Manager Bobby Honarfar provided the Councillor with a tour of the refurbished space, showcasing the new equipment and describing its advanced features. During his visit, Councillor Donatus spent time speaking with members and team members, underscoring the gym’s role as an important resource for the local community.
The refurbishment builds on a £150,000 upgrade completed previously in 2023, and expands the gym’s offerings to include 12 Treadmills, 4 Stepmill, 3 Step-Independent Stepper, 3 Elliptical Cross-Trainers, 3 Spin Cycles, 4 Indoor Rower, 5 Cycle Bikes, and various strength machines targeting specific muscle groups. Among the highlights are pin-loaded hip thrust and glute machines, a dual abductor/adductor system, and versatile squat and calf workout stations.
“This upgrade represents a significant investment in the wellbeing of our members,” Bobby said. “We’re proud to offer a space with equipment that supports a wide range of fitness goals, from beginners to experienced gym-goers.”
With the improvements now complete, the Clapham Leisure Centre’s gym aims to provide a welcoming workout environment for all members. Councillor Donatus Anyanwu praised the transformation, noting its potential to encourage more people in the area to prioritise their health.
