Where did the famous 6 stripes come from?
An American artist called Gilbert Baker made a design of originally 8 stripes now 6 to be used on gay Freedom Day in 1978. The stripes became a popular symbol (pride flag) for people trying to get rights for those in the LGBTQ+ community.
What do the stripes mean?
The original 8 striped flag included pink and turquoise, which were later removed due to fabric availability and design practicality, resulting in the 6-striped version commonly used today.
Red – Life
Orange – Healing
Yellow – Sunlight
Green – Nature
Blue – Harmoney
Violet – Spirit
