Boost your mental wellbeing with Active Lambeth
As we step into Mental Health Awareness Week (13th – 19th May), we’re highlighting ways to boost your mental wellbeing. At Active Lambeth we are dedicated to empowering our community with tools to improve mental wellbeing in accessible and sustainable ways.
Move for your mental health
Physical activity is a foundation of good mental wellbeing. Active Lambeth offers multiple of options that caters towards everyone, regardless of their fitness level. From walks in Lambeth’s beautiful parks to joining group activities like the South Bank Ramblers.
Be present
Our mindfulness classes are specifically designed to teach you the art of being present. Mindfulness helps in acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, and is used as a therapeutic technique to manage mental stress.
It’s about noticing what’s happening around us as well as within us thus becoming more aware of our stream of thoughts and learning how to manage it rather than just being caught up in it.
Whether you are new to mindfulness or are looking to deepen your practice, Active Lambeth provides resources and sessions that guide you through the process.
Keep learning
Trying new activities or picking up new skills can dramatically boost mental wellbeing.
Active Lambeth promotes continuous learning whether it’s through signing up for a new sport, learning to dance, or engaging in community-led workshops.
Each of these activities is not only a fun way to spend time but also an effective method to enhance cognitive functions and foster an environment of growth.
Stay social
Connection is key to personal well-being. Active Lambeth encourages joining local groups and participating in community activities. Whether it’s through planned meetups or casual gatherings, each interaction adds value to our lives and supports our mental health framework. The Thriving Communities are a fantastic resource to find groups that resonate with your interests, fostering a sense of belonging and support.
Active Lambeth’s programmes and resources are geared towards making mental wellbeing a priority for every individual in the community. By integrating physical activities, mindfulness, learning new skills, and strengthening the community, we provide a comprehensive approach to mental well-being.
Let’s take this opportunity during Mental Health Awareness Week to explore these avenues and make lasting changes in our lives that promote happiness and health. Learn more.
