Active Lambeth Swim School follows the STA (Swimming Teachers Association) standard. This is a seven-grade process.

Adult Swimming Lessons

Learn to swim, improve your technique, fitness or train for an event in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with our Adult Beginners and Improvers swimming lessons. Group and 1-to 1 adult swim lessons are also available in certain locations.

Disability Swimming Sessions

We want to encourage everyone to start to swimming at Lambeth. Where possible, we will look to integrate children with disabilities into our existing group sessions or we can offer 1-to-1 or small group swimming lessons to support children and adults to learn to swim. We also work with our partner charity Level Water to provide lessons for primary school-aged children with a physical or sensory disability.

1-to-1 Swimming Lessons

We understand that every person is different and has their own goals to achieve in the water. That’s why, at Active Lambeth, we offer private 1-to-1 swimming lessons with a qualified swimming instructor at a leisure centre near you. Our expert instructors create and tailor bespoke swim plans to help you or your child hit their targets. 1-to-1 lessons are subject to availability. Adult and Baby Lessons

Join our Adult & Baby Swimming Lessons to build confidence in the water and strengthen the bond with your child. Our fun and engaging classes, tailored for different age groups, will help your little one develop essential water skills in a safe and supportive environment. Perfect for babies and toddlers aged 3 months to 5 years.

Swim School Programme

STA Grades Explained

Perfect for children new to swimming. This class builds water confidence and teaches essential safety skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Ideal for children ready to take the next step. This class introduces basic swimming techniques and helps kids feel more at ease in the water, including learning to float and move horizontally.

Designed for children ready to learn conventional swimming strokes. This class builds technique through activities like push-offs, glides, and body rotation.

For confident swimmers ready to refine recognised strokes. This class also strengthens skills like submersion and advanced floating techniques.

For experienced swimmers ready to master strokes to World Aquatics standards. This class also introduces lifesaving techniques and diving progression.

For strong swimmers looking to build stamina and refine technique over longer distances. This class also introduces advanced skills from other aquatic disciplines.

This grade aims for the participants to enhance their stamina and maintain a recognised stroke technique. Grade 7 further explores new skills such as artistic swimming, water polo and lifesaving skills to offer participants a variety of advanced pathways they may like to explore.
