Rise Discover
For pre-school children aged 3 to 5. Themed activities use imagination and creativity to develop key life skills and physical movement.
Rise Gymnastics, designed by British Gymnastics and led by qualified coaches. Weekly coached courses at Brixton and Clapham that build strength, balance and confidence, with regular goals and medals along the way.
Courses run for 45 weeks a year. We are closed for two weeks over Christmas.
Rise is the British Gymnastics recreational framework, and Active Lambeth is registered with British Gymnastics. Our sessions are delivered by appropriately qualified coaches in a warm, welcoming environment where every gymnast can progress at their own pace.
The benefits reach well beyond the gym. Gymnastics builds strength, flexibility, balance and coordination, and develops focus, problem solving and spatial awareness that support every other sport.

The perfect blend of dance, drama and music. Gymnasts aged 6 to 12 learn turns, pivots and balances using balls, ribbons and hoops at Brixton Rec.
Children should attend in gymnastics clothing that lets them move safely and comfortably. Hair must be tied back securely and all jewellery removed before the session, including stud earrings. Gymnastics shoes should be worn where the coach asks for them.
Fine to wear: shorts, t-shirts, leggings, jogging bottoms, leotards and unitards.
Not permitted: jeans, hooded tops, skirts, and anything with zips, buttons, strings or toggles — they are not safe on the equipment.
Please arrive in good time. The warm-up prepares the body safely for gymnastics, and gymnasts arriving more than five minutes late may not be able to join the session.
Children aged 8 and under must be dropped off and collected by a parent or guardian, and nobody under 16 may drop off or collect.
Ongoing late collections will incur a late pick up fee
Children over 11 going home on their own, parents/careers will need to complete a signed permission form for this to be allowed.

Our Discover programme is designed for pre-school children aged 3 to 5, with older children progressing into Explore when age and ability are appropriate. Available age groups vary depending on the centre and the timetable.
Progression is based on the individual gymnast rather than simply how long they have attended.
Our coaches continually observe and assess gymnasts against the skills and outcomes within the RISE programme. When a gymnast is ready for the next level or pathway, the coaching team will advise the parent/carer.
Excel is an advanced pathway and is therefore based on ability and readiness.
