PARTICIPATION WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

Acknowledgement of Risk:

I, hereby acknowledge and agree that participating in Bowling and related activities at Active Lambeth, involves inherent risks and dangers of accidents, injury and physical harm. These risks may result from the nature of the activity, the actions of others, or a variety of other causes. I understand these risks and agree to assume all responsibility for any injuries or damages that I might incur during my participation in these activities.

Waiver and Release of Liability:

In consideration of being permitted to participate in Bowling at Active Lambeth, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue Active Lambeth, its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, members, successors and assigns from any and all liabilities, claims, demands, actions and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me, or to any property belonging to me, while participating in such activity, or while in, on or upon the premises where the activity is being conducted.

Indemnification:

I also agree to indemnify and hold harmless Active Lambeth from any loss, liability, damage, or costs, including court costs and attorney fees, that they may incur due to my participation in said activities, whether caused by negligence of the releasees or otherwise. 

Acknowledgement of safety rules:

I agree to observe and obey all posted rules and warnings which are intended to protect the players, spectators and other guests. I further agree to follow any oral instructions or directions given by Active Lambeth, or the employees, representatives, or agents of Active Lambeth.

Rules and Regulations:

1. General Information

These terms and conditions govern the use of the Bowling Alley located at Brixton Recreation Centre, 27 Brixton Station Road, London SW9 8QQ.  By entering and using the Bowling Alley, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

2. Booking and Reservations

  • Advance Bookings: Bookings can be made via our call centre, online or at the reception. All bookings are subject to availability.
  • Group Bookings: For group bookings (e.g. parties or events), a deposit may be required at the time of booking.
  • Cancellations: Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance to receive a full refund. 
  • Late Arrival: If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your reserved time, we may release the lane to other guests and you may not be entitled to a refund as to not impact on other bookings. We cannot guarantee you will be able to play for the full duration purchased. 
  • Reservations: Will only be held for 15 minutes past the reserved time, after 15 minutes the reservation will be cancelled and no refund will be issued. Lane reservations start at the scheduled booked time and not the time the Bowling game started if players show up late. 
  • We would love for you to be able to finish your “last game”, but if another group is booked after you, we will transition the Bowling to the next person or group promptly at the end of your booking time. 

3. Age Restrictions

  • Children under 5 are not permitted to play Bowling.
  • Under 13’s are not allowed in the venue after 6 pm   
  • Bowlers under the age of [14] must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.

4. Bowling game play

  • A single game usually takes 10–15 minutes per person. For a group of 4, please allow around 45–60 minutes. 
  • If you think you require more time, please reserve more than your booked time or extend during a session if following session is available. 
  • If you have purchased a discounted session (Concessions) you must provide proof during the check in process to be eligible to play (e.g. valid NUS / Freedom pass) 
  • If one member or more has a discount applied to their booking, they will be required to supply proof. Any person in the booking that is not eligible for a discount will be required to pay the full price for that session. 

4. Health and Safety

  • Bowlers must follow all safety instructions provided by staff members.
  • All participants are in good health & physically fit to take part in all activities.
  • Any person with epilepsy or other conditions sensitive to light or sound, back or neck injuries, high blood pressure and /or heart conditions do not Bowl.
  • If you experience any discomfort or injury, please notify a staff member immediately.
  • It is the responsibility of the participants (parents or guardians) to ensure that children are supervised in such a way as to avoid the possibility of any accident or injury. 

Ensure real equipment is used such as Bowling balls that may cause injury / harm if parental supervision is not carried out correctly. 

  • Customers are financially responsible for any damage caused by failure to follow the directions of the Rules and Regulations. Report any accidents immediately to a staff member. 
  • It is not mandatory to wear Bowling shoes while playing. However, Bowling shoes can be provided at a charge. Adult and children’s Bowling shoes are available for hire, subject to availability. 
  • Appropriate footwear must be worn when playing the Bowling. Flip-flops, sandals, open toed shoes and high heeled shoes are not classed as appropriate footwear. 
  • Please ensure you have CLEAN SHOES.
  • During winter months, no shoes worn outside are allowed in the Bowling area. Please bring a clean pair of dry shoes or hire shoes, subject to availability. 
  • No running, jumping, or antics are allowed in the Bowling area.
  • The Bowling lanes are strictly prohibited to prevent slips, injuries and damage to the lanes.

5. Behaviour and Conduct

  • All guests must behave in a manner that does not disrupt other bowlers or staff.
  • All guests MUST keep a safe distance and keep watch of the person playing the activity. 
  • Alcohol consumption must be in accordance with local laws and rules of Active Lambeth leisure centres.
  • Do not play the Bowling if heavily intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. 
  • The use of bad language, excessive noise, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. Offenders may be asked to leave the premises without a refund.
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted on the premises.
  • No drugs are permitted on the premises.
  • If at any point you feel under immediate danger, report any incidents immediately to a staff member. 
  • Failure to abide by any of the above procedures may result in the cancellation of the remainder of your paid Bowling time without compensation. 
  • The Bowling alley is a family-friendly environment and inappropriate conduct will result in the termination of the session without a refund.

6. Liability and Insurance

  • Brixton Recreation Centre accepts no liability for personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property. By using the Bowling alley, you assume all risks associated with the activity.
  • Guests are responsible for their personal belongings. The Brixton Recreation Centre is not liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.

7. Equipment Use

  • Bowling balls must be used appropriately. Damage to equipment caused by misuse may result in a fee for repair or replacement.
  • If you have any issues with the equipment, please inform a staff member immediately. Do not attempt to fix the equipment yourself.
  • Always choose a ball that you can comfortably control and not just the heaviest you can lift, to prevent injury or damage: 

Children’s Balls: Usually range from 6 to 8 lbs(Lightweight, with smaller finger holes for easier handling)

Adult Balls: Typically 10 lbs (Some adults may use 8–9 lbs if needed, but 10 lbs is the standard starting point for adults).

8. Food and Drink

  • Only food and drinks purchased at the Bowling alley or the Family Leisure Zone café may be consumed on the premises.
  • Guests are not permitted to bring in outside food or drinks.
  • Keep food and drinks at the provided tables. NO FOOD OR DRINK are permitted ON THE LANES area at any time! 
  • Alcoholic beverages may be served to guests of legal drinking age. Please drink responsibly.

9. Privacy and Data Protection

  • We take your privacy seriously. All personal information collected through bookings or other interactions will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • We may use your email address to send promotional offers or notifications. You may opt out at any time.

10. Photography and Filming

  • By entering the Bowling alley, you consent to being photographed or filmed for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please notify a member of staff.
  • No professional filming or photography is allowed without prior permission from the management.

11. Parking

  • No Parking is available at the Brixton recreation centre. 

12. Termination of Services

  • Brixton Recreation Centre reserves the right to refuse entry or terminate the Bowling session of any guest who violates these terms and conditions without a refund.

13. Amendments to Terms and Conditions

  • These terms and conditions may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on our website and will take effect immediately upon publication.

Acknowledgement of Health and Fitness: 

  1. I declare that I am physically fit and have no condition or illness that could prevent my participation in these activities. I agree that it is my sole responsibility to determine whether I am sufficiently fit and healthy enough to participate in this activity. 

Acknowledgement of Understanding: 

  1. I have read this waiver of liability, assumption of risk and indemnity agreement and fully understand its terms. I understand that I am giving up substantial rights, including my right to sue. I acknowledge that I am signing the agreement freely and voluntarily and intend by my signature to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law. I also understand if I purchase a ticket for Bowling and equipment at active Lambeth on behalf of another person, I and that other person both agree that you make that purchase as the authorised agent of that other person so that he/she will be bound by these conditions. 

I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I AM GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY ENTERING THIS FACILITY AND DO SO FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT. 

PARENT OR GUARDIAN LIABILITY WAIVER ON BEHALF OF MINOR: I represent that I am duly qualified as the parent or legal guardian or authorised custodian the above listed persons (hereafter the “Minor”) and that I have the authority to execute this Agreement on behalf of the Minor. I further agree to be legally bound by the provisions of this Agreement and to indemnify and hold harmless The Released and Indemnified Parties for any claims that the Minor may now have or may arise in the future during the Claim Period against any of The Released And Indemnified Parties arising on the Premises. I further agree that if it is determined that I am not the parent or legal guardian or legal custodian of the Minor, or that I did not have the authority to agree on behalf of such Minor, I will nevertheless personally defend and indemnify The Released and Indemnified Parties for and from any Claim arising from Minor’s participation in activities at the Premises. 

I HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE (1) THAT THIS DOCUMENT IS VALID AND MAY BE ENFORCED IN THE SAME MANNER AS A HAND-SIGNED DOCUMENT THAT EXISTS IN PHYSICAL FORM. I ALSO EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE THE VALIDITY OF THIS DOCUMENT. I FURTHER AGREE THAT I HAVE KNOWINGLY AND EXPLICITLY WAIVED ANY RIGHT TO CLAIM THIS DOCUMENT IS INVALID OR IS UNENFORCEABLE BASED ON THE FACT THAT I HAVE NOT PUT PEN TO PAPER. 

By booking this activity I accept the terms.
